At DeSantis Family Practice, we are keeping up to date with the constant changes and challenges regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As you are well aware, updates and changes regarding who to test for COVID, the number of patients in our community and state testing positive for COVID, local, state and federal laws, along with CDC guidelines, are constantly changing. As these changes take place, we will adjust to keep you and your family safe and healthy.
Procedures we have implemented below are following the newest guidelines. As the guidelines change, we likely will need to adjust these procedures, and will post these changes as soon as possible.
- In order to reduce the spread and exposure of this virus, anyone with possible COVID-19 and mild symptoms (fever and cough) are asked to stay home and self-isolate for at least 7 days from the onset of symptoms and until you are symptom-free for 72 hours.
- In order to limit time spent in close contact with other people, we have closed our waiting room. Once you have arrived in our parking lot, please stay in your vehicle and call the office to let us know you are here. We will call you back on your cell phone when the room is ready, and a staff member will meet you at the door and escort you to the elevator or stairwell - whichever your choice.
- If your appointment is for an illness or sick visit, we will take a screening temperature; if your temperature is 100 or greater, then we will initiate flu testing upon your arrival to your room. Further testing for possible COVID-19 will be based on up to date guidelines by the CDC.
We will be offering virtual visits during regular office hours via telemedicine for many types of appointments during the pandemic. Please call our office to schedule a telemedicine visit. All you need is access to a computer or a smart phone. Your insurance should cover this visit like any other visit during the pandemic only. Per your insurance it will apply the same deductible and/or copay, which will be billed later. Please be respectful of your allotted time length as we are trying to accommodate as many sick people as possible during these chaotic times. Details will be given to you over the phone when scheduling.
All medical personal dealing with sick patients will wear personal protective equipment, which includes gowns, masks, protective eyewear, and gloves.
We are providing masks to all patients with fever and cough, and as mentioned before, all patients are escorted directly to their rooms.
All rooms are cleaned after each visit, and all other areas of the office, including the elevator, hand rails, door knobs, counters, etc. are cleaned on a regular, frequent basis.
Please continue to keep yourself protected with social distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing a mask, and avoidance of touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Please call us with any questions or concerns with regards to your health!
